The Ungagging of God...

The ungagging of God is the title of a seminar I attended at this year's Spring Harvest in Somerset.  It does sound very unusual but made some sense by the time I came out of the seminar venue.  We Christians sometimes don't know this but we tend to keep God safely locked up when we are out of church or not at home or when not with other Christians.  We often lock Him up safely in our hearts and miss opportunities to share Him with our non-Christian friends.  Or sometimes we just come on too strongly and argumentative when talking about our faith.

God's presence is all around us and we need to be conscious of this and let Him guide us to speak from our hearts and not just because we want to speak.  Thank God for modern technologies! television, internet, the social networks etc. we just don't have face-to-face communication anymore, we can now communicate in so many ways!

Paul quoted from the old testament in Romans 10:14-15 (The Message).
14 But how can people call for help if they don't know who to trust? And how can they know who to trust if they haven't heard of the One who can be trusted? And how can they hear if nobody tells them? 15 And how is anyone going to tell them, unless someone is sent to do it? That's why Scripture exclaims, A sight to take your breath away! Grand processions of people telling all the good things of God!

In these modern times, it is our duty to speak to people about the LORD in the way that they will understand - as we have made use of modern day technologies, we should also use modern languages and thinking. It is important not to dwell too much on the "rigid religion code" and communicate God's love to people in a simple manner - to which they can relate.  After all, Christianity is all about God's amazing love for human beings.  All we have to do is pass that love unto other people in words, in action...

The speaker at the seminar also talked about how the movie industries are spreading the gospel in a way - with movies like Bruce Almighty, Passion for Christ, etc.  My prayer is that Christians will write books and produce movies that will dazzle the world like the Harry Porters and Twilights did.  It is possible and it will happen in Jesus name.

It is important for us to remember to let the Lord Jesus guide us through His Spirit in whatever we do and not feel that we have to be like salesmen selling Christianity to people by all means.  After all, the Lord Jesus has already done all the work.
